Thanks for coming to my site! I get a lot of questions about recipes and what our family is cooking up in the kitchen. And now questions about what’s in our garden and chickens. So, I thought this would be a great place to share those and whatever else I feel like sharing in my little corner of the “inter-webs.”
How it started?
This page started as a blog dedicated to mainly whole30/paleo recipes. When Covid hit, I jumped on that sourdough bandwagon along with thousands of other people. I also decided this would be a great time to throw all my time and energy into planning a garden to help with my depression and anxiety. I had gardened many times before but wasn’t getting the success I wanted out of the garden. Our 2020 garden took off like crazy. I got so inspired by the win, I researched and outlined every plant I tried to grow for the coming fall. We were cooking whatever we wanted.
Now, Gardening and Chickens
Growing vegetables out of our garden, planning meals around them, and seeing them on our table brought me such pride and joy. Things escalated pretty quickly from Spring 2020. I had ten grow bags. By fall ’20, I had two 4×8 raised beds. Which then, escalated even more for Spring ’21, with an 8 ft trellis tunnel, another 4×8 bed, and fruit trees.
I have loved cooking and being in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first cookbook as a little girl with computer paper and markers. Then, started cooking for my friends in middle school. It quickly became one of my favorite hobbies, which continued through college for my friends and now for my family and friends. I love being in the kitchen with my people cooking, laughing, and dancing. Now to add to our journey of being more self-sustainable, we’re adding backyard chickens!
